A touring trip that involves walking in scenic places off the tourist trail and visiting yarn producers and retailers

When wool and walking comes together.

In collaboration with the Thoughtful Knitter a new venture was launched in October 2024, entitled ‘Wool and Walk’. The long weekend hinged upon the yarn festival hosted by the Glasgow School of Yarn, and included touring New Lanark Mill with a walk through the fantastic autumn colours of the beech woods to the Falls of Clyde. On our last day we had another occasion to celebrate the autumn colours at Dawyck Botanical hillside gardens on our way to marvel at the artistry of the Great Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels. Before returning to Edinburgh, our day was rounded off with a walk from Scott’s View near Melrose down to the statue of the Three Muses beside the River Tweed, featuring some wooly antics. In 2025, we are launching two new Wool and Walk trips with a focus on yarn producers, dyers and farm visits, whilst also walking in some beautiful places. The first of these trips featured in the poster below is detailed under the Dates & Offers tab of the website, featuring a tour of the eastern part of the Northern Highlands, from Inverness to John O’Groats. Watch out for the launch of the second trip which will take place 29th to 31st August 2025
