Join us on our Torridon
Join a 5 day Scottish excursion to the dramatic Torridon, Loch Alsh & Skye region based in a beautiful sea lochside B&B in stunning Scotland.
Basing ourselves in one accommodation slows the pace and enables getting to know one region better. You will encounter the dramatic and wild mountain terrain of North-West Scotland with its many lochs (lakes), sea inlets, mountainous peninsulas, pine woodlands and waterfalls. There will be opportunities to walk, take to boats and see atmospheric ruins in spectacular settings. Noted for its tranquil rural setting and spectacular views, the B&B will provide a place of peace and restoration. Loch Ness and Glen Coe are also encountered on this trip.
Day 1: Depart from Edinburgh 9:30-10am. Going north over the Firth of Forth and up into the Highlands at Dunkeld. Drive over the barren Drumochter pass. Picnic overlooking Loch an Eilean after a climb and wander through the Caledonian pine woods.
Over the Slochd pass and descend to Inverness and Moray Firth with walk to view the Falls of Rogie before driving west for the more dramatic peaks of western Scotland. Arrive in our west coast accommodation early evening.
Day 2 - A day to travel more by foot than in the vehicle. There are a number of hiking possibilities ranging from walks along rivers and glens to view waterfalls, to gaining the heights to take in views of lochs, hills and sea. The scenery of this area is truly magnificent and you won’t want to hurry. Meal out in a local pub.
Options include canoeing, coasteering, mountain biking. These aren’t included in the price but we can arrange these activities for those who want to do them.
Day 3: Tour north to see Loch Maree with a boat trip across to its charming islands in spectacular scenery and steeped in ancient history and mystery. Climb a peak or a more low lying walk through dramatic hill scenery. Dine at an inn by the seaside and sample a choice of the locally caught seafood.
Day 4: A trip to the Isle of Skye, to the dramatic setting of Elgol. Options of a boat trip or walk to see the famous Cuillin Hills. Ferry back and visit the historic brochs (ancient towers) of Glenelg and back to the accommodation.
