Qualified ....!
I've been silent a long while. I had to validate a lifelong experience in the hills into a recognised and internationally approved qualification, without which Roaming Scotland would not be able to operate. So during this first quarter I've successfully completed a 2 day First Aid course in the Cairngorms relating to injuries in mountains, and had a week long Mountain Leadership course followed by days out in rotten weather to test out micro navigational techniques. Just over a week ago I finally had a tense 5 day assessment with a group of 8 others half my age or more.
I'm so pleased to get the award and be able to give clients peace of mind that I am approved by an international scheme validating my years of hill experience.
This photo is one of two camps we did in Snowdonia during which we did night time navigation to a micro degree! The course also included lots of daytime navigation, group leadership, rope work on steep terrain. Our camps were very chilly being March and still winter in the hills.
